There was a close relationship between the Swiss artist Hugo Suter (1943-2013) and the Aargauer Kunsthaus. In 1966, the Kunsthaus purchased the first paintings of the artist who was then only 23 years old. The following decades witnessed additional purchases and gifts as well as individual and group shows.

As a result of this lively exchange, more than one hundred works by Hugo Suter form part of our in-house collection today. The Focus shows a selection of works on paper, wall reliefs, installations, and objects from 1970 to 2000, which are complemented by works of contemporary artists and friends of Hugo Suter’s.
