Pauline Julier

A Single Universe

Ready for a voyage through space and time? The exhibition by the artist and filmmaker Pauline Julier (*1981, Geneva) is an intergalactic tour through the geological ages of Earth all the way to space. We visit a 300-million-year-old forest in China as well as a mountain range on Mars. With immersive video installations, Julier links scientific insights with rituals and myths and invites us to take a look into the world – and not at the world.

Augusto Giacometti

Freedom | Commission

The comprehensive presentation focuses our attention on a multi-faceted artistic personality whose oeuvre is considered to be one of the highest expressions of art in the first half of the 20th century. Co-curated with the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA), the exhibition explores the relationship between free creation and commissioned art and reveals the field of tension within which Augusto Giacometti (1877-1947) spent his productive life as an artist and cultural policy maker.

Stranger in the Village

Reflecting on Racism with James Baldwin

In his famous text Stranger in the Village, the US-American writer James Baldwin addressed the racism that informed his stay in Switzerland in the 1950s. Baldwin's words continue to inspire many artists to this day. They hold up a mirror to us as a society and have lost none of their relevance. The group exhibition explores belonging and exclusion through current works by local and international artists, raising questions that concern us all.
